Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why physiotherapy?
Depending on your personal goals, physiotherapy can assist you to restore, maintain or improve your strength, function, movement, and overall well-being. Physiotherapy can involve physical rehabilitation after an injury or surgery, injury prevention and risk reduction and getting to the root cause of your pain. Treatment may include manual (hands-on) therapy, an individualized exercise progam, education and certain modalities as needed (such as, heat, ice, therapeutic or athletic taping and cupping).
  • Do I need a doctor's referral?
No, physiotherapists are primary healthcare providers, which means no referral is required. However, some extended health benefit plans require a doctor's referral in order to reimburse you. If you are unsure, check out the details of your benefits plan.
  • What should I expect for my first visit?
Your first visit will involve a detailed assessment and treatment, taking approximately 1 hour. I will ask you questions about your health history and the reason for your visit. I will perform a series of objective tests to evaluate and diagnose your condition. You will then receive a treatment plan completely designed to accommodate your goals and needs. Please note that all sessions will be one-on-one with me and are provided in a private treatment room. I am never double booked or seeing multiple patients at the same time.
  • What should I expect for my follow-up sessions?
Follow-up sessions are provided in time blocks of 30, 45 and 60 minutes and I will discuss my recommendations with you for the duration and frequency of your visits based on your condition. Please note that all sessions will be one-on-one with me and are provided in a private treatment room. I am never double booked or seeing multiple patients at the same time.
  • Do you accept WSIB, motor vehicle accident or OHIP claims?"
Unfortunately, I do not bill directly to the WSIB or auto insurance. You are still able to see me for physiotherapy, however you would have to submit your own invoices to the WSIB or your auto insurance company. For publicly funded physiotherapy through OHIP, you must be eligible for the program, have a referral from a doctor or nurse practitioner and attend a publicly funded physiotherapy clinic. Unfortunately, I do not work at an OHIP-funded physiotherapy clinic. Check out the following link to find the OHIP-funded physiotherapy clinic directory: www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/programs/physio/pub_clinics.aspx
  • Do you direct bill?
Yes, I want to simplify your day! I can direct bill to many third party insurance companies, reducing or eliminating the need for you to pay in the clinic.
